Week Without Walls

GIS Week Without Walls is open to all Secondary School students, except Grade 12. WWW offers students opportunities to engage in educational experiences outside their normal school environment. Residential and non-residential trips are offered globally, regionally and locally. Every effort is made to ensure a healthy variety of opportunities, which cater to the interests, expectations and budget of all families.

All students are expected to enrol in a WWW experience. Absence during the week will be counted against the students’ attendance record.

#GEMSJewelsofKindnessAndRespect 24 of GIS’ Grade Six and Seven students journeyed to Kathmandu, Nepal for the experience of a lifetime last week for WWW. The students visited two different schools: one an inner city private school; the other a public school in the sparsely populated hillsides. With their lack of resources and poor physical state, they were unlike anything found back in Dubai. Our students were eager to engage with their counterparts in games of football, basketball, cards, drawing and local games which our students learned how to play. Moreover, our GIS students were eager to donate money toward the purchasing of school supplies to give to each school as a way of making some small positive difference. Books, pens, sports equipment, posters and more were purchased and distributed to classrooms in each school and the local teachers and students alike seemed overjoyed to receive them. The trip was an invaluable experience for all involved. #WeRGIS
